PERSONALIZED ACT TUTORING

The ACT
is a game.
Learn to play.

Your ACT score doesn’t define your intelligence. The test has patterns you can learn and strategies you can practice. We’ll help you understand the concepts, recognize common question types, and make better use of your time.

THE PROGRAM

Find the patterns
Learn the concepts

The main focus of our sessions is learning how to “play the game” of standardized tests. We find patterns in the questions you miss and teach the concepts, strategies, and timing skills behind them. These test-taking skills can also help you on other multiple-choice exams.

INITIAL ASSESSMENT

Start with a
full-length practice test

Take a full-length practice test before tutoring begins. We review your results with you and your parent, set a goal score, and look for patterns in the questions you miss.

Hayden Alcorn

Hayden Alcorn founded Alcorn ACT Tutoring and leads our English and Reading sessions. He is a BYU student and earned a perfect 36 on the ACT.

His tutoring experience includes Huntington Learning Center and private instruction, both online and in person. He developed our eight-week program around the patterns, strategies, and concepts students need to understand the test.

We look for the reason behind a missed question so you can recognize and solve that type of problem the next time it comes up. Most sessions involve reviewing actual ACT questions. Austin Long leads our Math sessions.

Austin earned a 35 on the ACT and has spent three years helping students understand the test.

He leads our Math sessions, bringing patience and a knack for making complex concepts simple. He breaks problems into clear steps and takes the time to explain why each step works. Students have room to ask questions, work through mistakes, and build the understanding they’ll need when a similar problem shows up on test day.

Who is this program for?

Students who want help preparing for the ACT and can make time for tutoring and homework each week. We use your practice test and goal score to decide what to work on.

How do the sessions work?

We meet over Zoom for two 90-minute sessions each week. Hayden teaches English and Reading, and Austin teaches Math. We’ll arrange session times with you before the program starts.

What if eight weeks feels too fast?

We also offer a 16-week option for students who prefer to spread out their preparation. Contact us for current availability, scheduling, and pricing.

What study materials are included?

We provide the official ACT practice book and individual section breakdown documents. Before your first session, we’ll walk you through how to use them for your preparation.

How much homework is assigned?

Expect about an hour of homework between each session, or roughly two hours per week. Completing it before the next session helps us identify what to review. Diligent homework and focused participation during tutoring have a big effect on your progress.

Is a score increase guaranteed?

No. Students in our eight-week programs have improved by an average of 5.2 points, with past gains ranging from 2 to 10 points. Results vary, and completing homework consistently and staying focused during sessions make a big difference. Past results don’t guarantee a particular increase.

How does rescheduling work?

Notify your tutor more than 24 hours before a session to arrange a make-up appointment. The program does not offer refunds. Please read the full policies for cancellation, lateness, payment, and recording details before enrolling.
