YOUR ACT MATH TUTOR
Austin Long
Austin teaches the ACT Math section. He’s extremely patient and especially good at breaking complicated concepts into simple steps. Students have time to ask questions and understand how to get to the answer.
PERSONALIZED ACT TUTORING
Your ACT score doesn’t define how smart you are. The test has patterns you can learn and strategies you can practice. We’ll help you understand the concepts, recognize common question types, and make better use of your time.

THE PROGRAM
The main focus of our sessions is learning how to “play the game” of standardized tests. We find patterns in the questions you miss and teach the concepts, strategies, and timing skills behind them. These test-taking skills can also help you on other multiple-choice exams.
Take a full-length practice test before tutoring begins. We review your results with you and your parent, set a goal score, and look for patterns in the questions you miss.
Zoom sessions each week
Homework between sessions
Come ready to focus, and finish your assigned homework before we meet again. Consistent practice and attention during sessions make a big difference in your progress.
MEET YOUR TUTORS
I’m Hayden, the founder of Alcorn ACT Tutoring and a BYU student. I teach the English and Reading sections.
I earned a perfect 36 on the ACT and have tutored at Huntington Learning Center as well as privately, both online and in person. I developed our eight-week program to teach students the patterns and strategies of the test, along with the concepts they need to understand.
We look for the reason behind a missed question so you can recognize and solve that type of problem the next time it comes up. Most sessions involve reviewing actual ACT questions. My coworker Austin teaches the Math section.

We meet over Zoom for two 90-minute sessions each week. Hayden teaches English and Reading, and Austin teaches Math. We’ll arrange session times with you before the program starts.

We provide the official ACT practice book and individual section breakdown documents. Before your first session, we’ll walk you through how to use them for your preparation.
Expect about an hour of homework between each session, or roughly two hours per week. Completing it before the next session helps us identify what to review. Diligent homework and focused participation during tutoring have a big effect on your progress.
No. My students have improved by an average of 5.2 points during their eight-week programs, with past gains ranging from 2 to 10 points. Results vary, and completing homework consistently and staying focused during sessions make a big difference. Past results don’t guarantee a particular increase.
Notify your tutor more than 24 hours before a session to arrange a make-up appointment. The program does not offer refunds. Please read the full policies for cancellation, lateness, payment, and recording details before enrolling.
